Utah State’s Logan Hammer and Kaitlyn Richins Named Male and Female Athlete of the Year

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track & field junior Logan Hammer and soccer senior Kaitlyn Richins were named the Male and Female Athlete of the Year, respectively, at the annual Robins Awards, recognizing the best of Utah State University.

Hammer rewrote the Utah State record book during the 2025 indoor track and field season. On January 11th, he broke the USU indoor pole vault record that had stood since 1994 by clearing 5.50 meters (18-0.5) at the BYU Indoor Invitational. Hammer proceeded to break his own record three more times, jumping 5.55 meters (18-2.5) on January 17th at the Idaho State Open, 5.60 meters (18-4.5) at the USU Indoor Meet on February 1st, and 5.61 meters (18-4.75) on February 15th at the Arkansas Invitational. The native of Nampa, Idaho, also broke the 30-year-old George Nelson Fieldhouse record on February 1st. Hammer won his second-straight Mountain West indoor pole vault title on March 1st and capped off his terrific indoor season by finishing sixth at the NCAA Championships on March 14th, tying his school record and earning first-team All-American honors.
