Metro Atlanta nonprofit helps make ends meet for mothers battling cancer

AUSTELL, Ga. — Last Christmas, Regina Howard didn’t know if she’d make it to the next one. She said she was diagnosed with stage 4 endometrial cancer in August 2023. While she lost her job and her hair, she never lost her faith.

“I don’t think anybody’s ever really ready to hear that diagnosis at all,” Howard said. “Your jobs can’t accommodate you anymore because you have to go and miss work. You don’t know what the treatment will do to your body.”

Howard ran into Michelle Brown during her battle with cancer. Brown became Howard’s bridge to a better chapter. She’s not hard to spot in her iconic pink cowboy hat. She’s donned a new title as well: The Pink Lady. Brown started the Pink Bridge 20 years ago to help Atlanta area mothers battling cancer…
