CHICAGO An 18-year-old Chicago man is charged with first-degree murder after a deadly shooting on the city’s Southwest Side, authorities said.

Deadly Shooting Leads to Arrest

What we know:

Trevon Smith was arrested at 6:10 p.m. Thursday in the 4800 block of S. Seeley Avenue after being identified as a suspect in the shooting, according to Chicago police.

Minutes before his arrest, police said he shot and killed a 19-year-old woman in the 2000 block of W 47th Street, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Smith was taken into custody and charged with one felony count of first-degree murder.
