The Santa Maria Fire Department (SMFD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 800 block of South Depot Street on Thursday, bringing a substantial response to combat the blaze.
The vacant building, whose flames were seen by nearby residents, prompted a multi-engine effort to control the situation.
