In response to growing transit ridership, Santa Maria Regional Transit (SMRT) has added transit service opportunities to Routes 8 and 20, effective Monday. The changes are designed to create new transit access points which help continue to meet the community’s growing needs for convenient public transportation options.
Route 8: Will see added bus service to east Tanglewood with a new bus stop near Arrellanes Junior High School. At least two trips align with school bell times, giving student families another alternative to get to and from the school site, while also helping reduce the distance community residents of east Tanglewood will need to walk before accessing a Route 8 bus stop.
Route 20: Has two new added bus stops in Santa Ynez along Highway 246 near the north Refugio Road intersection, serving the Santa Ynez Valley High School/Allan Hancock College satellite facility…
