FRANKFORT, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A state lawmaker is hoping to cut back on the governor’s pardon powers between administrations.
“This is about justice. It’s about the ability of one person to subvert an entire system that is set up to provide justice,” Sen. Chris McDaniel (R-Ryland Heights) told FOX 56.

Kentucky is among 22 other states where the final say on pardon powers lies with the governor. There is no limit on when those pardons may happen, including up to the very last moments in office, which has never sat right with McDaniel.
