Longmont’s Coffman Street Northbound Closure Begins January 13 Amid Mobility Improvements

Longmont residents and commuters brace for a three-month disruption as the northbound lane of Coffman Street between 6th Avenue and Longs Peak Avenue is set to close starting Monday, January 13. According to the City of Longmont, the closure which stretches northbound Coffman Street’s existing full closure from 6th to 9th Avenue, is part of the ongoing Coffman Street Mobility Improvements Project aiming to enhance transportation flow.

Despite the closure, access to all businesses on the 600 block of Coffman Street is guaranteed to remain open, but some driveways on the east side of the street may see temporary, short-term closures and contractors will coordinate timing with those affected business owners, southbound traffic is unaffected and will continue as usual. Meanwhile, the Village on the Main parking lot from Coffman Street will be shut off throughout the construction effort, although access via the alley between Main Street and Coffman Street from Longs Peak Avenue is still open.

Moreover, the roundabout off 6th Avenue in front of Village Place at Longmont is expected to stay operational despite the changes, albeit will be relegated to a one-way system when driveway work is in progress, and visitors should look for the traffic signs to navigate new entry and exit points, the city has put in place these measures to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the construction…
