As a young hospital nurse, Susan Jackson became familiar with grief. She watched the nurses at HeartsWay Hospice of Northeast Texas ease her grandmother’s suffering during her final days. Jackson was only in her 30s when her father, a certified registered nurse anesthetist at the same hospital where she worked, died. His loss, she said, was traumatic.
Time passed but didn’t heal all wounds. Oddly enough, she found hope in an unlikely place. Sometime after her father’s death, a friend called Jackson to offer her a job at HeartsWay in Longview.
