The Scappoose School District is feeling the reverberations of turmoil in the neighboring St. Helens School District following the arrests of two St. Helens High School teachers — one current and one former — on sexual assault allegations.
In a letter penned to the community Friday, Nov. 15, the Scappoose School District shared that one of the teachers who was arrested had also worked in Scappoose schools as a substitute.
“In the interest of transparency, we want to share information related to recent incidents in the St. Helens School District. One of the individuals named in those allegations, Mr. Mark Collins, has worked as a substitute teacher in our high school for a brief period covering seven school dates from 10/30/23 to 2/9/24,” the letter read…
