LAKEWOOD, Ohio (WJW) — The bitter cold temperatures and snowy conditions are really starting to show along the edge of Lake Erie.
Video captured from one of the high-rise apartments in Lakewood on Thursday shows round and flat pieces of ice forming on the lake along the Gold Coast.

FOX 8 Meteorologist Mackenzie Bart said these frozen chunks are called “pancake ice.” According to the National Weather Service , “the shape and rim are due to repeated collisions.”
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that Lake Erie had 12.35% ice concentration on Wednesday.
