Suspect in deadly I-64 crash on Gene Snyder placed on $500,000 bond

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The man who police believe is responsible for a deadly crash on I-64 appeared in court for the first time on Monday, Sept. 23.

WAVE News was able to confirm that Richard Piper is the suspect involved in the deadly crash that happened on Aug. 12 on I-64 West near Gene Snyder. Police said traffic was slowing down because of construction when a semi-truck driven by Piper crashed into a pickup truck, causing a chain reaction.

Colton Tanner, 25, was identified as the driver of the pickup truck. He died at the scene from his injuries…
