NEWTOWN, Ohio (WKRC) — As daylight saving time ends, public safety experts are warning of increased risks for car accidents, particularly due to more drive time in darkness and deer activity. A recent study found that crashes can rise by as much as 16 percent during this period.
Lieutenant Shawn McBreen of the Newtown Police Department highlighted the dangers during a ride-along with health photojournalist Ryan Heeter. “They have no idea when they are coming down the wrong side of the road – how dangerous that is,” McBreen said.
During a recent traffic enforcement blitz, McBreen stopped a driver for crossing a double yellow line. “The reason I stopped you is where the double yellow line is, you went down the wrong side of the road to turn left.
