Applications open for private PFAS well testing

WESTFORD — Applications are now for residents to apply to test their household wells for per and polyfluoroalkyl substances, a family of chemicals believed to, with sufficient exposure, cause adverse health effects.

As WestfordCAT reported in January and October of last year, the Select Board has approved multiple rounds of American Rescue Plan Act funding to test private wells for PFAS chemicals, which are believed to cause an elevated risk of cancer among other adverse health effects according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
