Former Nebraska WR coach joining Texas Tech offensive staff

LUBBOCK, TEXAS. (NEWS RELEASE) – Former Nebraska wide receivers coach Garret McGuire has joined the Texas Tech coaching staff as its running backs coach, the program announced Wednesday. He joins his father, Joey McGuire, who is head coach of the Red Raiders.

McGuire arrives at Texas Tech following two seasons as the wide receivers coach at Nebraska and then two years as an offensive assistant with the Carolina Panthers. The Huskers signed consecutive top-25 classes the past two seasons with McGuire on staff for a Nebraska program that is returning to a bowl game this year for the first time since 2016.

McGuire, the son of Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire, will oversee the running backs with the Red Raiders, while associate head coach Kenny Perry will continue as special teams coordinator and remain in the offensive staff room…
