LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock City Council voted 5-1 to postpone a vote at Tuesday’s meeting on a proposed plan known as the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).
Katherine Wells with the Lubbock Health Department presented a 150-page plan to address the five critical health priorities identified in a Community Health Assessment (CHA) conducted in September 2023.
The five issues included:
- Access to Healthcare
- Mental health, Substance use, and Homelessness
- Chronic conditions
- Sexually Transmitted infections and Teen Pregnancy
- Coordination of Information, Services, and Resources
Wells gave a presentation and discussed findings from the assessment with the council. The vote was for the council to accept the CHIP recommendations and findings of the CHA. Wells said multiple times their department was not asking for more funding…
