Southeastern’s last-second TD gives Lions 24-23 homecoming win over SFA

HAMMOND, La. — Southeastern Louisiana University wide receiver Darius Lewis hauled in a three-yard touchdown pass from Eli Sawyer with two seconds remaining to give the Lions a thrilling 24-23 Homecoming victory over Stephen F. Austin Saturday evening at Strawberry Stadium.

Lewis’ catch capped a game-winning, 13-play, 75-yard scoring march that helped Southeastern (4-4, 3-0 SLC) remain unbeaten in Southland Conference play. The visiting Lumberjacks fell to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in conference action.

“These were two good teams facing off tonight and it was a back-and-forth game,” Southeastern head coach Frank Scelfo said. “Tonight’s effort was a testament to the toughness of this team and our ability to be resilient.”…
