Police investigate ‘unprecedented’ spate of homicides

Lynchburg police officials are calling the three fatal shootings that occurred Monday and early Tuesday morning “unprecedented” and are asking residents for help in solving one of the homicides.

Police arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a teenager in the Boonsboro area and the shooting of a woman who was found dead in her home. In a separate case, police have yet to make any arrests in the fatal shooting of a 36-year-old man who was killed early Tuesday morning.

“The three homicides from yesterday are both unprecedented and deeply troubling,” Lynchburg Police Chief Ryan Zuidema said at a news conference Tuesday. “They go against the values we stand for as a community, and they will not be tolerated.”…
