Northeast Georgia, South Carolina Face High Fire Danger Thursday Afternoon with Winds Up to 35 mph

Atlanta, GA – Fire danger levels are elevated across northeast Georgia today due to dry conditions, gusty winds, and low humidity. A special weather statement from the National Weather Service (NWS) warns of potentially hazardous conditions, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.

According to the NWS Peachtree City office, relative humidity levels will fall below 30% north of Interstate 20 and below 25% to the south. Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 35 mph north of the interstate and around 25 mph further south. These conditions are forecast to last for about four hours this afternoon, significantly increasing fire risk.
