The Fresno State Bulldogs played the role of spoiler on senior night, though it was a true freshman who stole the show. Running back Bryson Donelson ran for 150 yards and Mikey Keene threw three touchdowns as the ‘Dogs jumped out to an early lead – then held on for a 28-22 victory over the Colorado State Rams.
The Rams arrived at Valley Children’s Stadium unbeaten in Mountain West play and riding a five-game winning streak. Colorado State opened the game on a 12-play and 77-yard touchdown drive, but their momentum halted on there.
Fresno State needed only four plays to answer. Donelson took the opening Bulldog snap for a 21-yard run. Then Keene found Raylen Sharpe for a 38-yard catch-and-run. Doneleson got into the end zone on the next play with a 16-yard touchdown.
The Bulldog defense would force stops on their next seven consecutive trips to the field – six punts and a turnover on downs. And the Fresno State offense was able to take advantage … for a while, at least…
