Portion of Route 202 in Westfield closed due to oil spill

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Mass. Pike exit 41 ramps were temporarily closed in Westfield due to an oil spill on Route 202.

The Westfield Regional Dispatch Center alerted the community on Facebook at 1:21 p.m. that a large oil spill shut down the southbound lanes on Route 202 (North Elm Street) between the Mass. Pike and Holyoke Road.

The Waze traffic map shows heavy traffic beginning in West Springfield on the westbound side of the Mass. Pike as drivers head toward Westfield.

During the clean-up, one southbound lane has since reopened however, only one lane of traffic is open in both directions. Drivers are being asked to seek an alternate route at this time.
