Jay Dennison is a son of Bill and Helen Dennison. Bill worked at Timken for 37 years and was only 68 when he died. He played sports at Carey High School and basketball at Bowling Green State University. Jay’s mother, Helen, 87, continues to work at the Carlisle House 20-30 hours a week. Jay has two brothers − Rick and Bill.
Jay attended Wynford Local Schools where he was a three-sports conference player and All Ohio in basketball. Jay feels fortunate to have had three Hall of Fame coaches at Wynford: Steve Stohla for football, Rob Sheldon for basketball and Tom Schreck for baseball. Jay graduated from Wynford in 1981.
Jay’s athletic background led him into college. During his junior year he got into education. He liked coaching and being around kids. Jay played basketball and baseball. He graduated from Findlay College in 1985. He did student teaching in Houston, Texas. There were only two systems in the nation that had year-round school, and Houston was one…
