The Phoenix Suns fell to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, 123-116. Phoenix led by 22 points at one point in the game. However, a second-half surge by the Lakers saw them run out winners, leaving the Suns with a 1-1 record to begin the season.
When speaking to the media after the game, Kevin Durant pinpointed two reasons why his team let go of the rope. He cited fouling and a failure to take care of the ball as the reasons the Lakers found a way back into the game.
“In the second and third (quarters), we just gave them momentum back more than anything,” Durant said. “…They did a good job of getting to the paint, causing the clock to stop with free throws … I think we did foul them a few times … We gotta do a better job of not fouling. Then we turned the ball over a lot in that second quarter. We gave them momentum.”…
