MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — New information has been released regarding a wrong-way crash in the East Valley over the weekend that left one person dead and two others hospitalized.
Shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday, the Arizona Department of Public Safety says troopers responded to reports of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) in Mesa. Moments later, the wrong-way vehicle collided head-on with a passenger car near the Power Road off-ramp.
Troopers say the 50-year-old Mesa man who was driving the passenger car died at the scene but stopped short of releasing his name pending notification of next of kin. A passenger in the same car was taken to a hospital with serious injuries…
