Phoenix keeping heat relief centers open longer because of heatwave

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Wednesday is the first of at least five First Alert Weather days because of a heat wave hitting Arizona this week so Phoenix is extending its heat-relief resources.

The city of Phoenix originally planned to close its heat relief stations this coming Monday.

But a new record-high temperature of 113 degrees was recorded at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Wednesday, which was also the latest date of recording a temperature over 110 degrees in the Valley…
