Hikers seriously injured after falling from waterfall in the Smokies

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WATE) — Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials are reminding visitors not to climb rocks near waterfalls after two hikers fell and were seriously injured on Wednesday.

Rangers responded to Cataract Falls Wednesday afternoon where the two hikers were seriously injured by a fall.

Carter County Sheriff’s Office investigating inmate’s death; foul play not suspected

They were transported from the Sugarlands Visitor Center to an area hospital by helicopter.
