Knoxville man sentenced to 15 months in prison for assaulting law enforcement during Jan. 6 Insurrection

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A man from Tennessee has been sentenced to prison for assaulting law enforcement during the Jan. 6 Capitol breach, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

According to a release from the office, Michael Tyler Roberts, 34, pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers during the breach of the capitol. The actions during the breach led to the disruption of a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the 2020 presidential election.

Roberts was sentenced to 15 months in prison, 36 months of supervised release and ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution, according to the release…
