BITTER BLAST: Frigid temperatures for Monday; tracking overnight snow showers for Long Island

Icy conditions and cold will continue into Monday. The good news is, though it will still be below freezing Monday afternoon, temperatures will improve near the freezing point of 32 degrees. Skies will become cloudy Monday night, setting up an approaching weak system that will bring some snow flurries or showers mainly to the western side of the Island, such as Nassau County, but some flakes are possible for parts of Suffolk County. The rest of Christmas Eve will be finally above freezing in the afternoon, dry heading into Hanukkah and Christmas Day with more sunshine and temperatures rising to the upper-30s and 40s by the end of the week. The weekend will be near normal but there are a few chances for rain during the weekend. WHAT TO KNOW: – Bitter cold continues tonight…..
