Iona University staff discovered the body of a dental hygienist inside her University housing in November. 47-year-old Karen Sackett’s body was decomposing by the time they found her, and the New York University was already in the process of evicting her.

According to News 12 Westchester, the police were called to her home in New Rochelle at least nine times before her death. It’s most likely due to her allegedly being in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend. She lived for seven years with this boyfriend at the house on President Street as he worked at the University.

Sackett’s family revealed that staff discovered her body inside her bedroom days after she died on November 4. They believe her death is suspicious with proof of photos depicting Sackett with bruises on her hand, alongside ripped-out chunks of hair.
Between 2017 and 2023, cops had to investigate for welfare checks and settling domestic violence incidents, as per Fox News reports. Since outlets reported on her death, an anonymous co-worker of Sackett detailed their knowledge of this rocky and unhealthy relationship.
The email mentioned how Sacket slept in her car due to how afraid she was of him. “I begged her to leave him,” they wrote. “She said she couldn’t as he has friends that are police, and he would tell them stories about her, and they would arrest her.”…
