Amid a raging wildfire threat intensified by a parched October, Governor Greg Abbott has declared disaster for 143 counties across Texas. This measure arrives in tandem with an escalation in state-supported firefighting resources to cull the flames currently engulfing the land. According to a statement from the Governor’s office, Texans are to maintain vigilance and “limit activities that can cause a spark” while local firefighters, bolstered by state aid, tackle over 80 wildfires that have consumed over 2,200 acres.

Among the assets deployed include an army of firefighters exceeding 200 individuals and a brigade of heavy machinery.
