Nearly 1 ton of meth seized from truck hauling coconuts at Texas-Mexico border

PHARR, Texas — A criminal investigation has been initiated after a massive meth bust at the Texas border.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said a truck hauling coconuts was stopped for a secondary inspection at the Pharr International Bridge on Saturday, Sept. 28.

During a physical investigation, border patrol officers found 378 packages containing nearly 1,950 pounds of alleged methamphetamine hidden within the trailer. Officials said the narcotics had an estimated street value of more than $17.4 million…
