Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance holds annual 5K in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – On Saturday, hundreds of people laced their shoes for the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance’s annual Teal Trot 5K in Atlanta.

Atlanta News First’s Lana Harris hosted the event, which aimed to raise awareness of ovarian cancer. There is no reliable screening tool to detect ovarian cancer, and many women don’t discover they have it until it’s too late, according to the Alliance.

Event organizers and participants, who include ovarian cancer survivors, said they came out to spread knowledge about the disease’s signs and symptoms. Those include vaginal bleeding, pain in the pelvic area, back pain and more, according to the CDC…
