Former Harrisburg resident flees California wildfires: ‘It’s an inferno’

On Monday, Ellen Kramer had to do the unthinkable as the California wildfires raged near her Los Angeles County home.

The former Harrisburg resident evacuated with her husband, Shalom Staub, and their rescue dog, Rupert, not knowing if they would ever return to their Sierra Madre rental. They grabbed medications, computers, clothing, photo albums and several heirlooms.

“We both sort of wandered around the house and started to collect things and put as much in the Prius as we could,” said Kramer, an attorney. “We walked back in and we just looked back at our great room and looked around thinking we may never come back to this place we loved so much.”…
