Miss Pennsylvania visits North Salem Elementary School

(WHTM) — It’s not every day a statewide celebrity shows up at your elementary school but that’s what happened for students and staff at North Salem Elementary School in Dover, York County, Wednesday.

Natalie Kling, a senior at Manheim Township, was crowned United States of America’s Miss Pennsylvania on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Allentown. Today, she read the children a book called “How to Tame My Anxiety Monster.”

“My platform is mental health and preaching that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes and explain the signs and symptoms of certain illnesses,” said Kling. “I know for me it started in my early years in school, as early as elementary school. I didn’t even notice it, I didn’t have anyone to talk to. I didn’t know what the signs were, so I’m just trying to be that role model that I never had.”…
