York Township residents fight school driveway decision ahead of zoning board meeting

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — On Tuesday members of the York Township Zoning Hearing Board will vote on a proposal to build a secondary driveway for York Township Elementary. The agenda item is one of the last stops before the township rolls out infrastructure changes.

The Dallastown Area School District gave the green light on the proposal at its July 25 meeting. The driveway would connect Merrin Road, a quiet residential street, to York Township Elementary.

While the school district says the driveway is meant to increase safety and provide more convenient routes in and out of school, residents on Merrin Road argue the road is unsuitable for the increased traffic a driveway would bring…
