Manya Yana Campos stands before a crowd ready to listen. They gathered inside the Gambrel Gallery in Ashland to see her, hear her poetry. In a strong voice, with her body stepping forward to punctuate carefully chosen words, her hands gesturing to underscore the message, she describes the sound of her mother’s bangles, braids as “spiritual ropes” and being “a liberated Latina who makes tortillas, round like the full moon.”
