PHOENIX, Ore. – Norovirus, or the stomach flu, is on the rise across the U.S. The latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests that cases have gone up more than 31% from Nov. 28. Phoenix-Talent School District 4 is monitoring possible cases using its communicable disease plan.
The plan is in place at Phoenix Elementary School and other schools within the district. Jackson County Health and Human Services works closely with the district nurse to monitor cases. If 20% of students are sick, the county is informed. If that number jumps to 30%, parents are notified about a potential outbreak.
