An Ohio community gathered in the freezing cold on Wednesday evening to remember and celebrate the life of an 8-year-old Akron boy who accidentally took his own life on Monday.
D’Angelo Alcorn was remembered as “full of life” and someone “who always had a smile on his face” by attendees. He died at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Monday after accidentally shooting himself at his family’s home in the 1500 block of Evergreen Avenue in the Firestone Park neighborhood of the eastern Ohio city.
He had reportedly gained access to the unsecured handgun and shot himself in the second floor of the home, Akron police told the Akron Beacon-Journal .
