My name is Debbie Robbins, and as a candidate for District 3 city councilwoman, I find it necessary to address an ad that appeared in the Record Gazette on Oct. 18, just as I believed we were concluding this campaign season. It took me a moment to process, but I finally realize that I don’t just have one opponent; I have an entire team of opponents. To start, I’d like to address the claims made in the ad funded by Inge Shuler.
I chose not to respond to the Record Gazette’s request for comment regarding my candidacy, and I stand by that decision today; it is my right to do so.
I have said this more times than I can count: I was not asked to run for the District 3 council seat by the city manager or anyone else. I made this decision because I was dissatisfied with the representation our community is currently receiving — nothing more, nothing less…
