A tiny survivor, most likely an abandoned pet, had been spotted by several people at Fisherman’s Retreat in San Timoteo Canyon in Redlands, California. He had been there for two days, but no one seemed to have taken any interest in helping him.
How the little dog made it over the hill to the few homes in the canyon is a mystery. How he survived the trek is even more of a mystery. The area is extremely dangerous; at night wildlife abounds, and it’s not unusual for mountain lions, bears and coyotes all scavenging the area for prey.
Who would ever have thought a tiny dog, terribly matted and frightened, who had been reported running for days, would have survived even one night – no less four nights in the treacherous outdoors?
And there he was – an obviously abandoned little dog running for his life. When the little dog spotted a house, he ran up to the porch, but the people didn’t do anything to help him. The scared little guy just sat there, waiting and hoping someone would help him.
Fortunately, a kind woman wanted to help. She knew he would not survive much longer outdoors on his own, but could not bring him into her home because her cat tried to attack the dog.
The rescue of the dog turned out to be a nail biting search in the canyon area, and it was animal advocate and rescuer Faith Easdale, who answered the call.
(Hard to believe a small dog could survive in this environment on his own)
And finally, he was safe:…
