Proposed overnight California train line linking SF, LA takes major leap forward with ambitious plan

Dreamstar Lines, a transit startup based in Newport Beach, took a significant step this week toward bringing luxury overnight train service to California. On Tuesday, the company announced it had hired Designworks, a BMW Group subsidiary, to create initial design concepts for its rail cars. The planned service would run between Los Angeles and the Bay Area, utilizing existing tracks.

The collaboration will produce high-end train interiors and exteriors, with first-class suites featuring private bedrooms and restrooms. Standard cars will offer both seating and bedrooms, while lounge cars will provide open seating and a bar. According to Dreamstar, the design will embody “a luxurious blend of comfort and elegance.”

This design partnership represents a critical move for Dreamstar, bringing its vision for California’s rail travel closer to reality.
