The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. Fire officials said that good Samaritans were trying to retrieve the dog when it got startled and ran down an embankment to the tracks. The dog then was observed in a culvert that connected to a drain pipe that went under the rail lines.

The fire department called for a hold on train service and sent firefighters over the embankment to get the dog. Fire personnel, utilizing a UTV and the dogs owner’s coercion, were able to coax the scared, but uninjured dog out.
