1. Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival (MIFF)
The festival will run Oct. 17 through 19, at the Premiere Oaks Stadium Theaters in Melbourne. In its 26th year, the MIFF has been a mainstay in Brevard with ticket sales and sponsorships benefiting a local charity. The Saturday matinee segment is reserved for the best films Florida has to offer, with many first-time filmmakers seeing their movies on the big screen for the very first time. Tickets start at $10. 2. Melbourne Toy and Comic Con
Show off your cosplay at the Melbourne Toy and Comic Con at the Melbourne Auditorium, 625 E. Hibiscus Ave., on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Browse over 50 vendors selling comics, toys, Funko, art and handmade goods, plus panels, a costume contest and more. Guests include actor Zack Taylor from “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” comic book artist Greg Land, actor Carlos Navarro from Marvel’s “Hawkeye” and more. 3. ‘Starry Night’ concert at the King Center
Brevard Symphony Orchestra will open their 71st season with a “Starry Night” concert at the King Center , 3865 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature the eastern US premiere of Peter Boyer’s “Horizons,” Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2,” “When You Wish Upon a Star,” music from “Star Trek: Into Darkness,” and even an ABBA medley. 5. Men at Work 2024 Tour at the King Center
Men at Work will bring their 2024 tour to the King Center, 3865 N. 6. Pancake breakfast in Satellite Beach
The Satellite Beach Lions Club and Police Athletic League are teaming up to host a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to noon at Satellite Beach Civic Center, 565 Cassia Blvd. All-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage will be served, along with unlimited coffee, orange juice, and milk. 8. Skydiving fundraiser in Sebastian
The Women’s Center of Brevard hosts “ Elevate HER ,” a skydiving fundraiser, on Saturday, Oct. 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at Skydive Sebastian, 400 Airport Drive, Sebastian. The event will feature community members taking a leap of faith, both literally and figuratively, as they skydive to symbolize the journey survivors take in reclaiming their lives. There will also be helicopter rides, a DJ, parachutes, food and drinks, a photo Booth and more. Spectators are welcome to join the festivities and cheer on participants as they make their jumps. 9. Pickleball monthly mixers in Palm Bay
Ages 18 and older are invited to a pickleball mixer at the Ted Whitlock Community Center, 370 Championship Circle NW, Palm Bay, on the second and last Mondays of every month.
