Saints downed by No. 15 Spartans

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Sharale McCormick scored a game-high 22 points but it wasn’t enough as Flagler College fell to No. 15 (WBCA Division II Top 25) University of Tampa 58-48 to close out the Florida Tech Holiday Classic Saturday afternoon at the Clemente Center.

Flagler slipped to 4-6 as it closed out its non-conference schedule for the year. The Saints will break for the holidays and return to action on Jan. 4 at the University of North Georgia. Tampa won its fifth game in a row and improved to 11-2. McCormick finished 9-of-19 from the field and was 3-of-8 from 3-point range. She grabbed six rebounds, tallied three assists, and collected three steals.Carleigh Grimm, Jessica Dowdy, and Jazmine Major each added eight points. Marley Smith corralled six rebounds.

The Saints had a tough third quarter as they made 2-of-14 from the field and was limited to five points…
