CAPE CANAVERAL — At one of its bi-monthly volunteer meetings, the Sands Space History Center had the privilege of having Gary Powers Jr. as guest speaker.
He is the son of Francis Gary Powers Sr., the U-2 pilot who was shot down over Russia on May 1, 1960 and imprisoned until 1962 when he was exchanged for KBG spy Rudolph Abel.
In 2015, Powers Jr. consulted on the Steven Spielberg Movie, “Bridge of Spies.”…
