Passengers survive after their car crashes off of a Miami overpass onto the road below

Cars and falls from overpasses don’t typically get along. The average overpass in the United States is around 16 feet off the ground. Consequently, falling from that height after your car crashes through an overpass barrier could quickly become deadly. Fortunately, a driver and passenger survived a fall from a Miami overpass onto the road below.

It’s not every day that you see car crashes result in vehicles taking a spill off of an overpass. However, that’s exactly what happened to one driver, one passenger, and many witnesses as a dark green Toyota SUV flew off an I-95 overpass in Miami.

According to NBC 6 South Florida , the Toyota and a Mazda SUV crashed into each other on the I-95 overpass. Unfortunately for the Toyota and its passengers, the SUV struck the overpass barrier wall. However, rather than coming to a stop there, the SUV flipped over the wall and plummeted toward West Flagler Street below.

Witnesses say that the SUV flopped onto a fence and came to a rest. Good samaritans rushed to the passengers’ aid. One bystander reportedly produced a knife to cut the stunned motorist out of the SUV. Luckily, and seemingly impossibly, the vehicle’s occupants were up and walking about after the crash…
