DOVER — The Department of the Interior announced Friday that it would hold a central Atlantic offshore wind energy lease auction by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on Aug. 14.
The site could generate up to 6.3 gigawatts of energy and power up to 2.2 million homes, according to an agency release. Lease Area A-2 consists of 101,443 acres and is approximately 26 nautical miles from the Delaware Bay.
