Midland votes to lower tax rates for second straight year

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The City of Midland recently approved to lower its tax rates, keeping its rates among the lowest in the region and state.

On Tuesday, the Midland City Council voted to approve the budget and tax rates to keep up with the community’s growth while lowering the tax rate for the second-straight year.

The City of Midland said the General Fund will increase to $176.339 million this year, including more than 55 percent to “set the standard for a safe and secure city.” The proposed budget also calls for $25 million to “strengthen and sustain infrastructure.” The City added that more than half of the general fund increase is for cost-of-living adjustments and pay progression for city staff…
