DANBURY — The case of the former city man charged in connection with an April 1989 kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl has been continued to next month as discovery-related matters get sorted out.
David Vincent Coffey appeared Monday in an orange jumpsuit at state Superior Court in Danbury for a pretrial hearing in his case. It was the 53-year-old’s fourth time appearing in court since his Oct. 22 arrest , following a break in a case that — up until last year — had been completely unsolved for more than three decades.
Coffey faces first-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit first-degree kidnapping charges, stemming from his alleged involvement in an abduction and sexual assault that occurred during the early morning hours of April 23, 1989, according to the warrant for his recent arrest .
