House fire and entrapment in Washington County after tropical storm Helene

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. —

While Sandersville was receiving the brunt of Tropical Store Helene, Sheriff Joel Cochran reports that multiple 911 calls came in for fallen trees on homes.

One of those calls resulted in a house fire with at least one person trapped inside. It happened around 4 a.m. on South Hospital Road. According to the sheriff, despite first responders on the scene, they had no information on the status of the residents. Hours later and the sheriff says there is still no update…
