Georgia turns to longterm backup Gunner Stockton at quarterback for its College Football Playoff run after Carson Beck suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during the SEC Championship win over Texas. The redshirt sophomore enters the quarterfinal matchup against Notre Dame with just 80 snaps under his belt this season. Still, Irish players and coaches don’t expect Kirby Smart to radically change the Georgia offense ahead of the New Year’s Day clash.

“We have 80-something plays of him playing quarterback,” Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman said this week. “He can run their offense. He does some things a little bit differently. He can extend plays with his legs. I don’t see it being tremendously different than what they’ve done all season, but we’ll prepare for anything.”…
